From Omar's Desk: 1)Biased 2)Women and Leadership

biases  ✺  genderbias  ✺  racialbias  ✺  leadership  ✺  diversity

From Omar's desk - this week I am featuring a double reading recommendation: 1) Biased - Uncovering the Hidden Prejudice That Shapes What We see, Think, and Do by Jennifer Eberhardt; 2) Women and Leadership - Lessons from some of the World's Most Powerful Women by Julia Gillard & Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Why? Biases and the impact they have on diversity are arguably one of the toughest but most important leadership challenges to address from both a societal and professional perspectives. The two books cover the topic head-on, with the first focusing on Race, and the latter on Gender - in a very open, honest and free manner. What I particularly appreciated in these books are the set of practical guidance on how all of us can and should play a role in rising to this challenge. True perspective openers that call for action.
