Good Experience. Wrong Signal.

Strong candidates fail interviews all the time.

Not because they lack skills.

Because they answer for themselves.
Not for the interviewer.

They share what they're proud of. Or the example they prepared.

But interviews aren't about what you want to highlight.
They're about what needs to be evaluated.

Example:

In a technical interview, you might focus on:
– leadership
– collaboration
– impact

All good signals.
Just not the one I'm testing.

If I'm assessing technical depth, I'm listening for:

– the hardest technical problem you solved
– the design decisions you made and why
– how you thought about scaling and tradeoffs

If that doesn't come through, I can't evaluate you.
And if I can't evaluate you, I can't hire you.

Good experience.
Wrong signal.

Before you answer, ask: "What are they evaluating?"
Then shape every bit of your answer to prove it.
